Brookland is a neighbourhood in Washington, D.C.'s Northeast (NE) quadrant. Brookland is historically centred on 12th Street NE and is bounded to the north by either Taylor Street or Michigan Avenue NE, to the south by Rhode Island Avenue NE, to the east by South Dakota Avenue NE, and to the west by the Washington Metro's Red Line. The western boundary dates back to the completion of the former Metropolitan Branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in 1873, which now incorporates the Washington Metro's Red Line and forms the physical barrier that separates Brookland from Edgewood to the west today.
